Jason Orlenko is a theatrical costume designer and educator based out of Milwaukee, WI. He is currently Assistant Professor of Costume Design at UW-Milwaukee Peck School of the Arts. Jason previously served as Visiting Assistant Professor in Costume Design for Indiana University Department of Theatre, Drama & Contemporary Dance in Bloomington, IN, where he also recieved his MFA in Costume Design under the mentorship of Linda Pisano.
Jason has worked extensively throughout Wisconsin and around the country. Notable designs include Xanadu, Mamma Mia, Kiss Me Kate, Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, Annie, and the world premiere of The Snow Dragon for Skylight Music Theatre, The Elaborate Entrance of Chad Deity, The Mousetrap and Silent Sky at Next Act Theatre, The Moors, The Wolves, Cost of Living, Photograph 51, The Violet Hour, Russian Transport, and Lettice & Lovage for Renaissance Theaterworks, 4000 Miles for St. Louis Repertory, Aida at Utah Festival Opera and Musical Theatre, as well as a host of Stackner Cabaret productions for the Milwaukee Repertory Theatre including My Way, The All Night Strut!, Souvenir, Lady Day… and Forever Plaid. Additionally his design work has been seen at Milwaukee Chamber Theatre, Northern Sky Theatre, First Stage Theatre, In Tandem Theatre, Forward Theatre, Cardinal Stage, Indiana University Summer Theatre, the University of Alaska-Anchorage, Juniata College, Marquette University, and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
Also a highly experienced wardrobe supervisor and costume technician, Jason has been fortunate to work with American Players Theatre, Florentine Opera, Illinois Shakespeare Festival, and the Hangar Theatre. Jason is a proud member of United Scenic Artists, Local 829. He and his husband, Brick, live in Milwaukee with their precious cats, Martin and Michael.
